We've teamed up with TOAST ALE, whose delicious beer is brewed with unsold loaves from bakeries and unused crusts from sandwich makers. For this brew we've used bread 100kg of bread from Celtic Bakers who are a supplier to Waitrose and rejected fruit donated by Rejuce.

The teams from Toast, Celtic Bakery, Waitrose Windsor and Plastic Free Windsor joined us in the brewery to break the bread up and to mash in. We then chopped up the fruit and added to the copper during the boil.

After a little bit of brunch with some homemade marmalade the Brewery challenge Toast to a game of 6-a-side down at Windsor Leisure Centre and it was an action-packed match!

Team Webrew (aka Real Ale Madrid) stormed in to a 3-0 half time lead. The 2nd half started in similar fashion with the lead extending to 5-0 but then two deflected goals for Toast (aka Beercelona) galvanised the team and the comeback was on! 5-0 soon became 5-4. It stayed that way for a while thanks to some woeful finishing mixed in with some decent shot stopping from both keepers. With time running out and Webrew on the ropes a moment of controversy decided the match.......Matt was adjudged to have played an illegal back-pass and Toast claimed a penalty, it transpired that there was a push on Matt forcing him into the infringement. In the chaos that ensued play on was called and Webrew goalie Paul attempted an audacious lob from one end to the other......he missed! However, the poor clearance fell to Steve who sent in a cross/shot similar to Ronaldinho in the 2002 World Cup and the ball dropped in the far corner to Webrew a 2 goal cushion. 6-4! Toast rallied again to make it 6-5 before two quick fire goals in injury time saw Webrew run out 8-5 winners.

Everyone managed to recover and went back to work. Fast forward 10 days and the beer has fermented really well and is now racked and in casks ahead of its launch at CRAFT BEER RISING. #CBR19 will the very first place to try this brand-new beer so if you want to be amongst the first to sample Toast & Marmalade then get yourself down to CBR on February 22nd!

We're all proud and excited with this new beer, a first for Webrew in brewing with bread! The profits from the beer sales will go to charity including Toast's chosen charity, FEEDBACK and Webrew's local charity, PLASTIC FREE WINDSOR.

We hope you have much fun drinking this beer as we did making it. Following CBR the beer will be on our brewery tap and available to our trade customers. We'll keep some back for our March Knight Club event too.

The beer itself is a 4.5% Pale Ale - tangy, refreshing and good for the environment!
